SW Manufacturing Engineer

Summary: 

The Software Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for learning the product hardware configuration and using this knowledge to modify scripts and configuration files for product setup. They collaborate with hardware and software engineers to optimize tool operation and performance. The engineer configures computing resources and works with the development team to identify defects and recommend improvements. This includes automating workflows, troubleshooting, and adjusting settings to ensure quality, performance as per the customer order.

Key Responsibilities and Duties / Essential Functions:

  • Supports Manufacturing during tool builds.
  • Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and resolves issues related to tool setup, enhancing existing scripting and configuring new products to ensure proper functionality.
  • Collaborates with Manufacturing and System Test engineers to identify system requirements and software modifications to translate product requirements into machine control software.
  • Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
  • Works with process engineers to configure tool settings to meet chemical and material control requirements.
  • Conducts software testing; evaluates and reports results
  • Communicates status of work progress to manager, customers, and other team members, as required
  • Ensuring that changes to tool configuration are properly archived at the factory.

 Education and Experience:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ relevant software experience
  • Additional education, such as an advanced degree, may be considered towards meeting the experience requirements with approval form the hiring manager and Human Resources

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • Familiarity with equipment control software development, testing, and quality control
  • Strong understanding of modern C-style programming languages. XML file processing and script writing.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Productive and organized ability to prioritize objectives and manage time
  • Ability to apply logic/problem-solving skills to solve problems and apply creative software solutions

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.  Works in a clean-room environment to install or test software on a daily basis.
