Materials Planner

The Materials Planner is responsible for the daily execution of the planning and scheduling functions for assigned products. This position will manage inventory levels and coordinate with the production supervisor. The position will also be responsible for applying policies to promote product availability in the most efficient means possible. The position may manage the flow of inventory and make sure products are properly shipped to customers.

Key Responsibilities and Duties / Essential Functions:

  • Coordinating activities between purchasing, warehouse operations, factory, and business unit management
  • Coordinate prioritized back orders with purchasing to clarify needs and plan forward using accurate predicted dates, and to prevent minimal schedule impact.
  • Oversee all shop order release and management on production floor, including labor demands, anticipating bottlenecks, and suggesting alternatives across the production floor.
  • Monitor shop order status to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Anticipate future bottlenecks and report to production supervisors.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify root cause and implement effective countermeasures.
  • Report status of materials inventory and other KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) as scheduled and making appropriate recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, or related field highly preferred
  • Requires minimum 3-5 years of previous materials planning experience.
  • Prior experience in a capital equipment company is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP computer systems
  • APICs certification or Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Intermediate skill set in the following: PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal contacts
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
